CRICKET

The rectangular cricket field is 22 yards (20.12 m) long and 10 feet (3.05 m) wide. The type of artificial grass used is of great importance in cricket: the ground must not be deformed by the wickets driven into the artificial turf. (A wicket consists of three wooden rods (stumps), each 28 inches (71.1 cm) long, standing side by side, connected to each other by two hollow cylindrical rods (bails) that are 4.3 inches (10.95 cm) long. The bails lie horizontally on the stumps. The distance between the stumps is 9 inches (22.86 cm). The bails must not be more than 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) above the stumps. For children’s cricket, different dimensions apply.)
